Geneviève Van Quaquebeke

CLASSICAL BALLET

Geneviève Van Quaquebeke graduated from the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp in 1996. In her final year she won the Prix Professionnel at the Prix De Lausanne. After her studies she danced with the Royal Ballet of Flanders under the direction of Robert Denvers achieving the rank of soloist. In 2000 she joined Les Ballets de Monte Carlo under the direction of Jean-Christophe Maillot, dancing Romeo & Juliette, Cinderella, Vers un Paysage (Jean Christophe Maillot), Bella Figura (Kylian), Second Detail and Enemy in the Figure (William Forsythe). Kimmy Lauwens

CLASSICAL BALLET

Kimmy Lauwens started her dance education at the Municipal Primary School 2 on Prinsstraat and in 1981 continued her dance training at the Municipal Institute of Ballet in Antwerp, under the artistic direction of Mrs. Jos Brabants. After graduating, she joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders in 1987, where she gained professional experience for one year under the artistic direction of Robert Denvers. She then went abroad to the “Basler Ballet” in Switzerland, where she would stay for four years. This company was led by choreographer Heinz Spoerli, who promoted Kimmy to demi-soloist after only 2 seasons. Read more...

Dominique De Blauwer

CLASSICAL BALLET

Dominique graduated from the Municipal Institute of Ballet, which became The Royal Ballet School of Antwerp, in 1984. She then followed further studies at the college of dance and dance pedagogy in Antwerp. She has been a valued member of the teaching faculty since 1988 as a ballet teacher, jazz teacher, repertoire teacher and choreographer . She is also a regular guest teacher at numerous national and international programs. Dominique acted as a jury member at dance competitions, Concours International de Danse Classique de Toulon among others. Over the past 10 years, Dominique has specialized in training new students from 1st year to 2nd year, so that they can effortlessly pick up on the following classes of the 3rd year.

Bart De Block

CLASSICAL BALLET

Bart De Block started his ballet training at the age of 9 in his hometown, Ghent. He was then referred by his teacher to the Stedelijk Institute for Ballet (now The Royal Ballet School of Antwerp). From 1980 to 1986 he won several medals in competitions such as the Prix de Lausanne, Jackson Mississippi and Houlgate. After graduation, he was accepted into the Royal Ballet of Flanders, but after one year left for Berlin, where he danced for nine years as a principal dancer at the Deutsche Oper. Read more...

Miho Akahane

CLASSICAL BALLET

Miho Akahane graduated from The English National Ballet School where she was coached by Kathryn Wade, Anthony Dowson and Dominique Franchetti. She started her career with Jeune Ballet de France where she worked with Eric Camillo, Jean-Paul Gravier. In 1998 she was invited to perform at galas in Moscow and New York before joining The Royal Ballet of Flanders where she would be promoted to first soloist. She also performed as a guest principal with Ballet del Sud in Italybefore going on to study at The Royal Conservatory where she obtained a diploma as a dance teacher. Read more...

Jee Eun Petitqueux

CLASSICAL BALLET

Korean born, Jee Eun Petitqueux took her first dance steps in Roeselare at the Linda Danneels Studio. At the age of 10 she was accepted at The Royal Ballet School of Antwerp where she graduated in 2005. Following her graduation, she returned to her native country to dance with the Universal Ballet Company. After obtaining her certificate from the Vaganova Teachers Course, she taught at the Universal Ballet Academy. In August 2011 and 2012, the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp invited Jee Eun as a guest teacher for their Summer Program. Since September 2011, Jee Eun has been a teacher at The Royal Ballet School of Antwerp and in 2011 she obtained her Teacher’s Training diploma from the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp.

Kevin Durwael

CLASSICAL BALLET

Kevin Durwael graduated from the Royal Ballet School Antwerp in 1997 and started his career at Nederlands Dans Theater. In 1999 he moved back to Belgium where he joined The Royal Ballet of Flanders. During his dance career he was fortunate to work with many choreographers, Jiri Kylian, Sol Leén, Paul Lightfoot, Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe, David Dawson, Marcia Haydée, Christian Spuck and Jorma Elo. In 2012 he obtained his diploma in teacher training for dance from The Royal Conservatory in Antwerp. Since September 2012, Kevin has been a teacher at the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp. He is also regularly invited as a guest teacher/choreographer in Japan, America, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Israel, Turkey, Poland and Italy. Kevin is currently the Associate Artistic Director, ballet teacher and resident choreographer of the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp.

Stephan Vodenitcharov

CLASSICAL BALLET

Stephan Vodenitcharov trained at The Paris Opera Ballet School and is a graduate of The Royal Ballet School of Antwerp. After his studies he joined the Staatballett Berlin in 2006, where he danced in the corps de ballets during productions as Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Das Flammende Herz, The Sleeping Beauty, La Sylphide, and Onegin. In 2013 he completed his education as a dance teacher and since 2016 he is engaged as a teacher at The Royal Ballet School of Antwerp.

Etsuko Sumii

CLASSICAL BALLET

Born in Osaka, Japan, Etsumi began classical ballet lessons (Vaganova method) at the age of 6. She joined the company Homura-Tomoi Ballet Company (Osaka) as a 1st soloist. She then received a scholarship from the Japanese government and furthered her studies at the Royal Ballet School in Antwerp and graduated into The Royal Ballet of Flanders where she danced for 10 years as a demi-soloist. She obtained a diploma as a classical ballet teacher in Belgium and since 1997, she has been teaching at the Royal Ballet School in Antwerp (classical ballet, Pointes, repertories, PBT, Batrre à Terre + exercises). She is regularly invited as a teacher in Belgium, Japan and around the world.

Eva Moreno

SPANISH DANCE

Professor of Spanish dance and folklore at The Royal Ballet School of Antwerp since 1997, Eva began studying Spanish dance and classical dance in the school of Mariemma, in Valladolid. At age 16, she moved to Madrid and was admitted to the Royal Conservatory of Dramatic Art and Dance, where she completed her training in the specialty of Spanish dance. She began her professional career with the ballet «Antologìa de la Zarzuela», and later with the production «Bolero», directed by José Granero. In 1988, she joined Ballet Teatro Español, as a soloist, in the ballet "Yerma", danced at the Teatro Albéniz in Madrid. Read more...

Ine Dubois

MODERN DANCE

Ine Dubois graduated from The High School for Music and Dance in Brussels, where she followed a pre-professional dance education in contemporary dance. In 2014, she obtained a Bachelor of Dance and Education at Codarts in Rotterdam with distinction. She was an intern withDance Work Rotterdam under the direction of Andre Gingras as well as The Silesian Dance Theatre under the direction of Jacek Luminski. Her graduation choreography was awarded with the highest distinction and was programmed at international dance festivals in Belgium, The Netherlands, Poland and Bulgaria. She created repertoire for Codarts Rotterdam, Zinnema Brussel, TerazNow Dance Theater Collective and Rokiskis Culture Center in Lithuania. As a performer, Ine worked with choreographers Vraja Sundari Keilman, Jeff Bauer, Janusz Skubaczkowski, Roxane Huilmand, Maciej Beczek, Paulius Prievelis, and Filip Van Huffel. Read more...
