Geneviève Van Quaquebeke

Geneviève Van Quaquebeke graduated from the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp in 1996. In her final year she won the Prix Professionnel at the Prix De Lausanne. After her studies she danced with the Royal Ballet of Flanders under the direction of Robert Denvers achieving the rank of soloist. In 2000 she joined Les Ballets de Monte Carlo under the direction of Jean-Christophe Maillot, dancing Romeo & Juliette, Cinderella, Vers un Paysage (Jean Christophe Maillot), Bella Figura (Kylian), Second Detail and Enemy in the Figure (William Forsythe). In 2003 she reached the final place in the Hanover Choreography Competition. In 2009, Geneviève became returned to The Royal Ballet of Flanders as a Principal Dancer under the direction of Kathryn Bennetts. She performed Odette/Odille in Swan Lake and Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty by Marcia Haydée and roles in Impressing the Czar, Artifact, New Sleep, Enemy in the Figure, Herman Schmerman, In the Middle Somewhat Elevated by William Forsythe, The Gray Area, Sweet spell of oblivion, The third light by David Dawson. She also danced several choreographies by Balanchine, Jacoppo Godani, Ashley Page and Infra by Wayne McGregor. Geneviève ended her dance career in 2013 and focused entirely on the pedagogical aspect of dance. In 2014 she graduated from the Ap Hogeschool SLO Dance. In 2014 she succeeded Irma Swynen as Artistic Director of Dansstudio Arabesque. She is a permanent fixture at Dansstudio Arabesque and is a teacher at the Bachelor's degree program at the Ap Hogeschool/Singel
