Vision and objectives follow-up year

The (inter)national dance world demands a lot from young dancers. In addition to being disciplined and independent, you also need to be skilled, professional and talented. It is important that young dancers sufficiently develop their artistic identity to be able to work with complete confidence for a company. The Royal Ballet School Antwerp not only mentors you intensively in your dance education, but also in your transition to the professional field. We help you maximise and develop your talents and dance skills. We will do this in the seventh follow-up year.

The follow-up year is an optional seventh year organised by the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp. In this 7th year, we prepare our students for the transition from a professional dance education to a professional dance career. Moreover, the further development of your artistic identity is key. You will have the opportunity to further develop and hone your talents and dance skills.

This seventh year is aimed at young people with a classical education as well as students specialised in contemporary dance. You will be individually mentored and coached by professionals in one of these disciplines.

During the follow-up year, you will also take your first steps into the professional dance world. You garner additional experience on and around the stage. To this end, we put special emphasis on internships and exchanges in the national and international professional field.

The follow-up year is also in full development, just like our dancers. In the coming years, the seventh year will be fine-tuned to your needs and those of the professional field.
